Building the Next Generation of Informed Americans Through Foundational Civics Education

Equipping families, educators, and communities with trusted resources that inspire informed, engaged citizens.

Why This Matters

Noah Webster Educational Foundation is developing a new collection of civics education resources designed to help raise a generation of informed, engaged, and courageous citizens. Our goal is to help Americans understand our nation's founding principles, appreciate the blessings of liberty, and strengthen the knowledge needed to preserve constitutional self governance for future generations.

America cannot remain a nation of self-government if its citizens no longer understand the principles upon which it was founded.

Across the country, civic knowledge is declining. Fewer than one in four young adults have read America's founding documents, while growing numbers express support for socialism and even communism, despite many being unable to define these systems or explain how they compare to America's constitutional form of government. Without a firm understanding of the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the Federalist Papers, and other foundational texts, the next generation is left without the historical framework needed to evaluate competing ideas or safeguard the freedoms they have inherited.

The Noah Webster Educational Foundation believes this trend can and must be reversed.

We are developing civics education resources that challenge students and adults alike to engage directly with America's founding principles, think critically, understand the responsibilities that accompany freedom, and become informed, engaged citizens. Because the future of constitutional self-government depends on citizens who know not only what America is, but why it was founded and how its principles can be preserved for generations to come.
