According to the Nevada Department of Education, there are approximately 490,000 students and over 30,000 teachers in the public school system. The state’s attendance rate is around 90%, with a dropout rate of roughly 4%. The graduation rate in Nevada is about 82%.

As for school choice, Nevada offers several options. The state has a large and growing number of public charter schools, particularly in urban areas like Las Vegas and Reno. Nevada also provides a private school choice option through a tax-credit scholarship program that helps some families afford private education. Additionally, certain districts allow limited open enrollment, giving families some flexibility to attend schools outside their assigned zones. Magnet schools are available in some areas, offering specialized programs. Families may also choose to homeschool their children in Nevada, provided they submit a notice of intent and follow state guidelines for instruction.
