According to the Ohio Department of Education, there are approximately 1.6 million students and more than 100,000 teachers in the public school system. The state’s attendance rate is around 93%, with a dropout rate of about 3%. The graduation rate in Ohio is roughly 87%.

As for school choice, Ohio offers a wide range of options. The state has a large number of public charter schools, often referred to as community schools, particularly in urban areas. Ohio also provides several private school choice programs, including vouchers such as the EdChoice Scholarship Program, which helps eligible families pay for private school tuition.

In addition, Ohio allows both inter-district and intra-district open enrollment in many areas, giving families flexibility in choosing public schools. Magnet and specialized schools are also available in some districts. Families may choose to homeschool their children in Ohio as well, provided they notify their local school district and meet state requirements for instruction.
